Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge rescue England from Wales

Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge rose from the bench to score as England came from behind to defeat neighbours Wales 2-1 in Thursday’s all-British Euro 2016 clash in Lens.

Just as he had in Wales’s opening 2-1 win over Slovakia, Gareth Bale put Chris Coleman’s side ahead with a long-range free-kick that England goalkeeper Joe Hart could only fumble into the net.

But Vardy and Sturridge came on at half-time and after the former had equalised in the 56th minute, the latter smuggled in a stoppage-time winner that fired Roy Hodgson’s men to the top of the group.

Wales are a point back in second place, above Slovakia on head-to-head record, and need to beat Russia in Toulouse on Monday to guarantee one of the two automatic qualifying berths.

A draw against Slovakia in Saint-Etienne will suffice for England and they will approach the game with renewed optimism after belatedly kicking their tournament into gear.

Defence Headquarters states That there are no US troops deployed anywhere in Nigeria

The Defence Headquarters has said that there are no US troops deployed anywhere in Nigeria, and there has been no arrest or operation by any foreign military or security troops in the ongoing efforts to rescue the abducted girls, as its being reported online.

The spokesperson for the Defence Headquarters, Major Gen. Chris Olukolade, released a statement yesterday clearing the rumours.

"No troop of the American Marines has so far been deployed in any part of Nigeria as is being circulated in certain media. International coalition is quite appropriate in handling terrorism being a trans-border and global crime. The public will be duly briefed on the areas of collaboration with allied forces in the mission to bring back our girls as the need arises. There is therefore no need to engage in misleading speculations while the mission is in progress."

  Further stating that the pictures being circulated online were taken from scenes in other countries and not related to Nigeria in anyway.

Three Arsenal player were in Lagos to meet with fans of the club. Bacary Sagna, Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski. Arsenal fc sign partnership/sponsorship deal with malta guinness so the players came for the audition. Its suppose to big a football match with the super eagles but due to security reasons it was cancelled, so this was done as compensation I guess.Yesterday they worked out with Malta Guinness low sugar consumers and fitness instructor Kaffy at Eko Hotel. Kaffy decided to teach the footballers the Azonto dance...and they loved it!

Mario Balotelli's mum is a cleaner at car lease firm

He earns £120,000 a week, likes to drink vintage champagne straight from the bottle and once famously put hundreds of pounds on to a church collection plate. But Mario Balotelli's generosity doesn't appear to extend to his mother, who works as a cleaner in an office only a few miles from her son's £3million mansion.

While the Manchester City footballer glides around in his gleaming £120,000 Bentley Continental GT, Rose Barwuah has a more humble mode of transport – the number 11 bus. Five times a week, she catches the bus  to start her job as a cleaner at a car lease  firm on the outskirts of Cheadle, near Manchester, earning little more than the minimum wage of £6.08  an hour.



Home for her is a council home in Wythenshawe, the area used to  film Shameless, the Channel 4 comedy about feckless families living on benefits.


The 46-year-old gave Balotelli up for adoption when he was two, and she and her husband were living in poverty in a tiny flat in Brescia, Italy. 


Last Christmas she moved to the Manchester area to be near her notoriously eccentric son, now 21.
A source said: 'When she came over from Italy with her daughter, Rose, she said she wanted to be close to her son and didn't want any of the huge wealth or luxury he now enjoys.

'And it appears she is staying true to her word, living within her limited means and working hard. It is hard work she is doing but she previously worked in a market so she is pretty tough.
'Mario doesn't live very far away in Alderley Edge but it is a world away as far as lifestyle.'

He added: 'His mother keeps a low profile – she doesn't want Mario to feel pressured by her being in the UK. She just wants to rebuild her relationship with her son as any mother would want.'
Balotelli has visited his mother on several occasions at her small semi-detached home, parking his white Bentley outside.


She and her husband Thomas, who are originally from Ghana, were advised to give him up when he was two because he had a life-threatening intestinal condition made worse by their cramped living quarters.


His mother later claimed the Balotelli family, who adopted Mario, had turned him against his birth relatives and she had to work hard to build a relationship with him.
She recently said: 'Mario has been over to see me a few times. We don't see each other all the time as he has his life and I have mine.'

Arsenal postpone pre-season game in Nigeria

Arsenal Football Club has announced it is reluctantly postponing its proposed trip to Nigeria this summer. The Club has taken the decision as a result of complexities linked to the planned game against Nigeria on Saturday, August 5 in Abuja.

Arsenal marketing director Angus Kinnear said: "Bringing a top-level club to an international market is always complicated and logistically challenging. With the proposed match in Nigeria planned for early August, we could not get comfortable on everything needed to satisfy our requirements, so we have reluctantly taken the decision to postpone the team’s visit."

Kinnear continued: “We have a huge and loyal following in Africa, and we are sorry that the team will not be visiting this summer. However, we have a long-term commitment to Nigeria and we are already making plans for a visit next summer.

"In addition, we also have some exciting forthcoming activities planned with our commercial partners in Nigeria - Emirates, Airtel and Malta Guinness, which will kick off in the next few weeks.”

Emirates are the presenting partner of the Arsenal 2012 Tour and Boutros Boutros, divisional senior vice-president of corporate communications said: “Emirates shares Arsenal’s disappointment that the team’s visit to Nigeria has been postponed. We look forward to working with Arsenal to bring the Club closer to its loyal Nigerian fans through new initiatives over the coming months.”
