Linda Ikeji Blog Shutdown - Google explains why her blog is being suspended

Everyone has been in shock with the sudden shutdown of Linda Ikeji's blog by Google, many are pointing accusing fingers man who threatened to see to it that her blog is deleted for alleged plagiarism.
 Punch contacted Google’s Manager for Communications and Public Affairs, Anglo-Phone West Africa, Taiwo Kolade-Ogunlade, and he gave reasons why the blog was shut down

“Google as an organisation takes issues of copyright seriously and belongs to a group of digital companies that respect copyrights.
“Copyright is a big deal and this is why you can’t just go and pick up another person’s intellectual property or content and lay claim to its ownership.

“That is why we have copyright guidance. I don’t know if Linda picked up any content and I don’t know what content is the bone of contention-neither have I looked into the complaints personally.

“But it is not a case of witch-hunting and has nothing to do with Linda Ikeji’s personality or anyone else because there is a process, and irrespective of who you are in the world, that process would apply to you,” Kolade-Ogunlade explained.

“Let’s respect other people’s rights and intellectual property. Making money off other people’s content without permission is wrong. Although the Internet is inanimate, it is the content on it that gives it life. These are the issues.

“Whenever owners of online contents come after you accusing you of using their content, it is because they have families to feed and businesses to sustain.

“People should also understand that copyrights does not only apply to text, but also extends to literary works, images and photographs, music files and MP3s, movies, movie trailers and videos as well as software,”

Three's a crowd! 3 Girlfriends Confront Cheating Boyfriend at The Airport

Well here's a case of girl power if I ever heard one. 17 year old Becky began dating 20 year old Charlie Fisher in March, the two fell in love. Although Becky admits she was a little suspicious about Charlie from the start because of how secretive he was with his phone and how he would not let her post pictures of him on social networks, she was mostly very happy.

That was until she stumbled across some texts from another girl on his phone. Taking it upon herself to investigate, Bcky discovered that Charlie didn't have just one other girlfriend but TWO. Instead of getting mad, the girls decided to get even and planned to confront Charlie at the airport as he returned home from holiday. Charlie walked out of arrivals at the airport to find all three girls shouting 'Liar, liar' at him before he fled the scene with his Grandmother (LOL).

Modern Relationships Are A Threesome Between Two People and Their Social Media

There's no denying the huge impact that social media has had on this generation and how we have ingratiated it into our daily existence, some people cannot go anywhere without announcing it on a social media platform or taking pictures for Instagram. As many positives as social media brings us, what are the negatives? One thing that I have always wondered about is the effect of social media on relationships and can modern day relationships survive with having every detail splashed out there on the WWW. I've been wanting to write a piece on this for a while but whilst doing my morning sweep of my favourite sites, I came across an article written on Thought Catalog which seemed to ask a lot of pertinent questions. I enjoy documenting special moments on social media with my significant other, it's something for me to look back on and remember good times or even just to smile. For me, it's not showing off or trying to look like the perfect couple but simply being proud of your significant other and wanting to share those happy moments with others. However, I must admit when I see couples dragging their dirty laundry onto the timeline's, it's embarrassing and unnecessary. Every couple has arguments and tiffs but that should never be brought into the public domain. Like I said, social media definitely has its pros and cons but if you're using it properly and sensibly then there's no reason why everything can't co-exist in harmony. As much as we don’t want to admit it, social media runs our lives. In the morning, we routinely take our phones and click on Instagram to see what events we’ve missed out on, check Facebook to see what’s been on people’s “minds,” and then tweet our often-random thoughts into a snappy 140 characters. Face it, we’re all obsessed, but has this obsession reached an all-time low? Are we really that addicted to the social media world that exists on our iPhones and computers?

Yes, we are. We’ve head-on immersed ourselves in social media, and in return, we’ve let social media invade almost every part of us. We willingly let social media break the boundary between personal and public with just one click. Worst of all, social media has effortlessly made its way into the most arcane and private piece of our being. What is so concealed and important that social media has stomped in on? Our love lives.

Yes, you’ve read that right; social media and our love lives have naturally become intertwined with one another. When two people become a couple, it’s instantly updated on each person’s relationship status on Facebook. When you’re mad at your SO, you harshly formulate an angry sub-tweet on Twitter. If you’re curious to know what your blind date looks like, then you can easily check on Instagram. One simply follows the other. Get it? In our world today, we measure means of love and dating by what social media has to offer us. Is this a match made in heaven, or is this one couple we shouldn’t admire?

While others think these forms of instant gratification and extremely public displays of affection are beneficial for us all, I really can’t agree. Delicate things such as dating and our love lives going hand-in-hand with social media doesn’t seem to be ideal. Having people knowing our every move is creepy enough, but for everyone to have a say in how “cute” of a couple two people are or determining your “#relationshipgoals” based on pictures from Tumblr is a bit much.  It appears that social media is creating unrealistic expectations for our SO to reach, while also openly showing two people’s fondness for one another, or lack-of as well. With every click, post, and tweet, we are instantly giving people an inside scoop on our dates, past and present lovers, and much more. It seems that with social media, people are more susceptible to making their lives, and more importantly, their love lives, less and less private. Something that is so personal between two people has become something that everyone is involved in. Forget being in a reserved relationship with one person because once you add a filter and upload that photo, you’re exposed to the opinions, advice, and unnecessary likes of millions of people.

So now what? What do we do about this mismatched duo? We can all safely admit we have succumbed to the evils of love via social media, but how can we change this? In my opinion, the best way to overcome this complicated relationship with have with social media is to pay less attention to it. Even though social media is a huge step in communication amongst others, it can be pretty harmful, especially when it creates conflicts between two people. It seems that when in a relationship, ignorance of our dating pasts is bliss, but with social media, we are exposed to everything we do not want to see. Relationships, love, and dating are all intimate parts of our lives, and I think it’s best to say we might want to update those parts to private from now on. Sorry, social media, we aren’t accepting your friend requests in the love department anymore."

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg now richer than Google owners

When Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page became billionaires many years ago, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg was still struggling with the social networking site. But now he's richer than them, this is according to Bloomberg. See the full report from Bloomberg below...

The Facebook Inc. chairman added $1.6 billion to his fortune yesterday after the world’s largest social network closed at a record. The surge elevated the 30-year-old’s net worth to $33.3 billion, moving him past Brin, 40, and Page, 41, as well as Amazon.com Inc. Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bezos, 50, on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Zuckerberg is No. 16 on the ranking. The Google founders are 17th and 18th. Bezos occupies the 20th spot.

“He’s just getting started,” David Kirkpatrick, author of “The Facebook Effect,” said in a telephone interview. “He’s going to become the richest person on the planet.”

The Menlo Park, California-based company posted second-quarter sales that soared 61 percent to $2.91 billion yesterday, exceeding analysts’ average estimate of $2.81 billion. The company’s revenue gain follows Google’s results last week, when the Web-search company posted sales that topped analysts’ estimates, largely based on the strength of online ads.

Facebook has jumped 183 percent in the past 12 months, the biggest rally in the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The company trades at 82-times reported earnings, compared to a multiple of 18.2 for the S&P 500. Google is up 7.5 percent for the year.

Mobile promotions accounted for 62 percent of ad sales, up from 59 percent in the prior period. Net income more than doubled to $791 million, with profit excluding some items at 42 cents a share, above the projection of 32 cents. In total, Facebook accounted for 5.8 percent of worldwide digital ad revenue in 2013, up from 4.1 percent in 2012, according to EMarketer Inc.

The company’s performance also propelled the fortunes of other Facebook shareholders, including Dustin Moskovitz, the 30-year-old who started the social network with Zuckerberg at Harvard University a decade ago, and Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s 44-year-old chief operating officer who became one of the world’s youngest female billionaires in January. Sandberg owns about 9.9 million shares valued at $740 million and has collected more than $550 million in share sales.

“The company’s success is growing by the minute,” Kirkpatrick said. “There’s no sign it’s going to slow anytime soon.”

When jailbird Chris Brown was released, he ran right into the arms of his on/off girlfriend Karreuche and the two were spotted looking loved up all over LA but it seems their romance has come to an abrupt end. Sources say that the two broke up over independence day weekend and their fight may have been caused by the racy photo Chris put up of her on his Instagram page. It seems Karreuche doesn't take too kindly to having her body exposed all over social media.
