Equitorial Guinea id named by CAF as new host of AFCON 2015

The Confederation of African Football has announced Equatorial Guinea as the new host of the Africa Cup of Nations 2015 following the decision of the football body to drop Morocco 3 days ago. 

CAF dropped Morocco as host of the football tournament on Tuesday November 11th following the nations request for postponement of the tournament in their country over Ebola scare.

A statement released by CAF yesterday afternoon says the dates for the tournament will be the same, which is from Jan. 17-February 8 2015 and that four cities will be used for the tournament: Malabo, Bata, Mongomo and Ebebiyin. Read the full statement below 

The Head of State and President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo this Friday 14 November met with the President of CAF Issa Hayatou concerning the possibility for Equatorial Guinea to host the Africa Cup of Nations Orange 2015. Following fraternal and fruitful discussions, the Head of State of Equatorial Guinea has agreed to host the tournament from January 17 to February 8, 2015.

Therefore, the Executive Committee of CAF confirms that the Orange Africa Cup of Nations 2015 will be held in Equatorial Guinea on the dates agreed, and the national team of Equatorial Guinea is qualified for the final tournament as a representative of the country host. The four cities selected for the finals are Malabo, Bata, Mongomo and Ebebiyin. The draw for the finals will take place Wednesday, December 3, 2014 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. The Executive Committee of CAF and President Issa Hayatou seize this opportunity to express their sincere thanks and deep appreciation to the people of Equatorial Guinea, its government, and particularly to His Excellency the Head of State and President of the Republic Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.

Reports Claim Serena and Venus Williams are not in Talking Terms

There are reports that close sisters Venus and Serena Williams are not in talking terms and barely even communicate. Read Page Six's report below ...

Tennis insiders are whispering that Serena Williams’ partying has caused an icy rift between her and her sister, Venus Williams.

The tennis champs have not been seen together off the court in recent weeks, and many wonder if Serena’s late nights out and disappointing doubles performances have annoyed the more low-key Venus. 

An insider was heard during the US Open claiming, “They’re not in a good place right now. Venus is angry with Serena,” because of her active social life off the court.

Some noticed Venus and Serena didn’t arrive together or even speak to each other at the Taste of Tennis kickoff event for the US Open a few weeks ago.

“There was no acknowledgment that either one was even there,” said one.

The sisters lost in the US Open women’s doubles quarterfinals after they had to pull out at Wimbledon, where Serena developed a mysterious illness. They’d also declined to appear together at a mandatory press conference after losing at the US Open.

Nigerian Female footballer wins Best Player at U-20 FIFA World Cup

Nigerian striker Asisat Oshoala (pictured above) was voted the Most Valuable Player/Best Player at the 2014 FIFA U20 World Cup in Canada. She was awarded the Golden Ball award and Golden Boot having scored seven goals and provided two assists.

French midfielder Griedge Mbock-Bathy was awarded the Silver Ball while her compatriot Claire Lavogez, was the Bronze Ball winner.

Meanwhile, the Falconets lost 0-1 to their German counterparts in the Finals of the World Cup played in Montreal, Canada yesterday. Well done to our girls. We didn't win the tournament but they played their hearts out!

Germany Wins the World Cup2014

I am so excited , I did want Germany to win and yes they did !! Besides it was a well deserved win, am sure you all quite agree. Germany beat Argentina 1-0 this evening  to emerge the winners of the 2014 World Cup. Up the German Machines .. .

Stephen Keshi and Joseph Yobo quit Super Eagles

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi and the team captain Joseph Yobo have both quit the team after failing to qualify to the quarter-final stage of the 2014 World Cup.
Speaking this evening after the Eagles' loss to France in the round of 16, Keshi said it was time to move on.

"I have to go back to my family and face fresh challenges,” Keshi said.

Eagles Captain, Yobo Joseph also said he's had enough and can go no further as national team player. “I think I should give the younger ones the opportunity to forge ahead. I have nothing new to offer.”

Luiz Suarez Apparently bit Same player a year ago, now to face 2-year ban as pictures emerge

Pictures have emerged of Uruguayan and Liverpool striker Luis Suarez trying to bite Italian striker Giorgio Chiellini (left) 12 months before biting him again at their match last night in Brazil. The first incident happened during a Confederations Cup clash between Italy and Uruguay in 2013.

Meanwhile Suárez is reportedly now facing a two year ban. FIFA disciplinary committee said this morning that it had opened proceedings against him and has asked his team to present evidence later today. "Any type of proof may be produced, including reports from referees, declarations from the parties and witnesses, material evidence, audio or video recordings’. the committee said.

A decision on whether he is guilty of biting or not will be published before Saturday when Uruguay will play Colombia.

Michael Schumacher out of coma 5 months after skiing accident, Yay!

After sustaining severe head injuries in a skiing accident on Dec 19 2013, Michael Schumacher was put into an artificially-induced coma to help reduce swelling in his brain . His family was told  by doctors it was unlikely he will ever wakeup.Five months later, the seven-time F1 champion is no longer in a coma and has left the hospital ..According to his management company

'Michael has left the CHU Grenoble to continue his long phase of rehabilitation. He is not in a coma anymore.The family also wishes to thank all the people who have sent Michael all the many good wishes. We are sure it helped him. For the future we ask for understanding that his further rehabilitation will take place away from the public eye."

In March after being advised to pull him out of life support, his wife refused to give up and reportedly spent £10million on building a fully equipped medical suite in their family home so he  can leave the hospital and stay at home with her.She felt she would betray his love and believed prayers and faith would bring him out of the coma.....
Micheal who is worth over £500million will now undergo rehabilitative treatments with physiotherapists, doctors, nutritionists, nurses and neurological experts. Such a relief he's back

Arsenal defeat Hull City in the FA Cup final and end Arsenal's nine-year trophy drought.

Hull stunned the Gunners by going 2-0 up inside the first eight minutes as defenders James Chester and Curtis Davies scored following set-pieces.
But Santi Cazorla's free-kick got Arsenal back in the game and Laurent Koscielny equalised in the second half.
Arsenal dominated extra time and Ramsey sealed the glory with a precise finish.

Aliko Dangote ready to redeem $1million promise to Super Eagles

Billionaire business man Aliko Dangote says he is ready to redeem his promise of awarding $1m to the Super Eagles for winning the 2013 African Cup of Nations last year in South Africa. He said this a few days after goal keeper and Super Eagles vice-captain Vincent Enyeama begged him and others who pledged various things to the team to fulfill their promises.

"We understand the busy schedule of Alhaji Dangote, we are just asking his aides to help remind him of the promise to us. It’s just a reminder to patriots who are very busy and may not have been prompted after they made their pledges, because the players are determined to bring more honours to fatherland at the forthcoming World Cup” Enyeama said

Speaking with BBC Sports, Dangote said the only reason he hasn't redeemed his promise was because nobody from the team or NFF had contacted him

"We’ve been waiting for Nigerian officials to collect the money but nobody has written to us. We will write to them, asking for the account numbers of the players, then we’ll make the transfer immediately.”

Cristiano Ronaldo declared World's Richest Footballer with €148m

Yesterday Monday March 10th, popular football website Goal.com released their Rich List and declared Real Madrid and Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo as the richest active footballer in the world.

The World Footballer of the Year held off rival Lionel Messi in the 2014 Goal Rich List with an estimated wealth of €148million. Retired footballer David Beckham was the 2013 Goal Rich List winner but since he's retired from football, he's no longer eligible to be put in the list.

Messi comes second with an estimated net worth of €146million followed by Eto'o with €85million then Wayne Rooney with €84million, and Kaka rounds off the top 5 with €82million.
