The 23-year-old actress has ditched her glossy chocolate locks for a bizarre tangerine tone for her new movie role in the upcoming action film American Ultra.

Maison de Cheveux in New Orleans, where the star had her hair dyed, shared a snap of the shocking look on their Instagram account on Friday.

The salon accompanied the photograph with the caption: "Kristen Stewart gettin her hair ready for a new role! #americamultra #awesomecolor #houseofhair (sic)"Meanwhile, despite her dodgy hair do, close sources say Kristen has been busy planning her birthday celebrations, which will take place on Wednesday and she's even keen for her on/off boyfriend Robert Pattinson to be involved.

A source said previously: "Kristen wants to celebrate her upcoming birthday with her close friends in LA, and she wants Rob to join them.

"Even though she hasn't seen Rob in the longest time, they still talk all the time. They text, Skype. They are both pretty much in the same place right now, just focusing on work and staying focused."

The Twilight star also wants Robert, who ended their four-year relationship last year after he struggled to get over her fling with married director Rupert Sanders in July 2012, to help her adopt a new dog to mark her 24th birthday.

The On The Road actress, who split from her boyfriend of more than four years Robert Pattinson last month, is reportedly very upset that their mutual friend Katy has been comforting the British actor and spending a lot of time with him alone recently.

A source told the MailOnline.com that the 24-year-old star feels "incredibly down right now and betrayed" at rumours of a romance between her ex-boyfriend and the Firework singer, who have been close friends for several years.

The insider claims that Kristen has cut off all ties with Katy and still hopes Robert will want to get back together with her, explaining: "Kristen is in a certain state of denial. She can't let go of Rob or get over him.

"She keeps trying to contact Robert and find out what he is doing but her attempts to see Rob have been rebuffed. Rob is not responding to her."
Robert and Katy were most recently spotted together on Saturday at Bjork's concert in Los Angeles.

It was recently reported that the singer, who has an on/off relationship with John Mayer, encouraged the actor to break up with Kristen after she cheated on him with married director Rupert Sanders last summer.

A source previously said: "Katy never really supported Rob's decision to get back with Kristen. She always said they wouldn't last.

"Katy told Rob she didn't think their relationship could withstand the cheating scandal. And he deserved better than someone who would destroy a family [like Rupert's]."

Kristen Stewart won back Robert Pattinson with a video montage of their happiest moments together reports The Sun newspaper.

The couple, who play on screen lovers Edward Cullen and Bella Swan in the Twilight Saga series, have rekindled their romance after Kristen had an affair with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, but it took a lot of grovelling and effort from Kristen to convince the Robert to take her back.

The touching video comprised of photos and footage of their life together made Robert realise he didn't want to throw their relationship away.

A friend of Kristen, 22, told The Sun newspaper: "She sent Robert the film after bombarding him with hundreds of texts, emails and answer phone messages.
'You'll make mistakes'
"It was a last-ditch attempt at getting him back and she spent ages making the video montage using hundreds of photos and hours of home film footage of nights out and holidays."

It would seem that Google Chrome's recent advert, which sees a man begging for his ex-girlfriend's forgiveness through a film, inspired the actress as she chose the same approach to try and gain Rob's forgiveness.

The source added: "It was just like the Google Chrome ad, as she cut-and-pasted lines from love poems to connect it all together."

The pair have been spotted out several times since they got back together, most recently at a Prince concert in Los Angeles last week, and Kristen recently spoke about how she has learned a valuable lesson from her mistake.

"You have to be OK with your own fears. If you're an honest person you'll make mistakes, but it'll be OK. The most interesting things happen after making mistakes," Kristen said.

Kristen Stewart Covers Vogue, Talks Fame: "I'm Not That Smooth"

In what may be the inadvertent understatement of the year, Kristen Stewart opens up in the October issue of British Vogue, admitting "I'm not that smooth."

Yeah, I picked up on that.

The Gucci-clad cover girl shares her thoughts on fame in the pre-cheating scandal interview ... and they prove to be a bit of a creepy premonition.

"I know that if you haven't thought about how you want to present a very packaged idea of yourself then it can seem like you lack ambition. But, dude, honestly? I can't," said Stewart.

"People expect it to be easy because there you are, out there, doing the thing that you want and making lots of money out of it. But, you know, I'm not that smooth."

Things definitely haven't been easy for the 22-year-old over the last month -- photos surfaced of her canoodling with her married "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders, causing her to fess up and issue an apology to longtime boyfriend Robert Pattinson.

This interview just proves that Kristen really has been clueless about how to handle her life in the public eye.

"Like if I were to sit down and think, 'OK, I'm really famous, how am I going to conduct myself in public?' I wouldn't know who that person would be! It would be a lot easier if I could, but I can't."

Kristen will next be seen baring it all in the film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's iconic novel, "On The Road," and she admits that the non-conformist nature of the 1960s really appeals to her.

"That world back then, it just seems freer to me than anything I could ever touch and I'm fully nostalgic for it, even though I wasn't even alive then," she said.

"I love being on the periphery with a group of people who have the same values that I do. People who don't get off on fame, who just like the process of making movies and thrive."

Kristen Stewart may not have held onto Robert Pattinson after the Rupert Sanders affair broke, but she definitely held onto some of his clothes!

The actress is set to make her first red carpet appearance since those controversial photos surfaced tonight at the Toronto Film Festival ... and last night she popped up at LAX for her flight to Canada wearing one of Rob's old shirts.

K-Stew was photographed in a shirt saying "Irie," a Jamaican phrase meaning one is at peace or feeling great ... the same t-shirt Rob was photographed wearing back in July 2011 (right).

At this point nobody knows if Rob and Kristen have completely severed ties or if they're still talking/dating ... and it might be a while until we ever know for sure.

The two never confirmed they were actually a couple until Kristen publicly apologized for cheating on him and they've been pretty good at staying light-lipped about the whole affair since.
