Scores Feared Dead as Explosion rocks Central Mosque in Kano State, Nigeria

Scores of people are feared dead in a bomb blast that rocked Kano Central Mosque, around the Emir’s palace. Captain Ikechukwu Eze who is the spokes person of the JTF (Joint Task Force)  in the state, together with witnesses confirmed this.
Witnesses said the bomb went off as Muslim faithful prepared for their Friday jumat prayers, causing serious pandemonium as people ran for dear lives.
The explosion, which went off at about 2 p.m. before the Imam of the mosque, Sani Zahradeen, began his sermon, was said to have been followed by sporadic gunshots.
The number of casualties is not yet confirmed.
Already the police have secured the area  while the entire mosque has been deserted. It's the same Mosque where Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido usually leads prayers but he wasn't there this afternoon.
