While we were introduced to her as a TV presenter, now we get to see Dolapo as an actress. Some might be surprised to learn about her varied acting career. Dolapo graduated
from the University of Bristol in England with a degree in Chemistry
and was finally able to follow my passion for acting. She enrolled in
the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in London and graduated with an MA
in Drama in September 2005.
So far, she has tackled roles from stage and film including ‘Iya-Ile’(The First wife),
produced by Soho Theatre/the Tiata Fahodzi Company, will doubtlessly
remember Dolapo’s ovation worthy performance in the Play which was
nominated for the prestigious Lawrence Olivier Award in the “Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre” category and the Nigerian stage adaptation of “For Coloured Girls“.
BN chatted
with Dolapo about her up-coming role in Jacob’s Cross and although she
is keen to keep the details of her role as a pleasant surprise for the
viewers, she did tell us that she would be playing.
“(My character on Jacob’s Cross) Moremi Omotoso who is a strong black woman who does whatever she wants, when ever she wants. She is very passionate and fights for what she believes in…it’s a nice meaty role”.
Jacob’s Cross Season 6 premiere’s on Mnet DSTV Channel 102 on February 13th. Make sure you tune in!
