Eddie Murphy 's forthcoming movie venture, A
Thousand Words has been beset by problems since it was made four years
ago and box office analysts are predicting an abysmal opening weekend
for the comedy, which is released this weekend in the Usa (March 9,
2012).
According to LA Times, Murphy has given the movie little in the way of
promotional support and suggests that Paramount Pictures, who are
promoting the film, will be "crossing their fingers that even a
fraction" of the interest Eddie generated in his 1980s heyday will
emerge for A Thousand Words. The movie cost a reported $40 million to
make, but analysts suggest that they'll only see around a quarter of
that recouped in its debut weekend. Paramount have reportedly been
targeting an advertising campaign at the African American audience in a
last-ditch attempt to boost box office sales and Megan Colligan, the
president of domestic marketing for Paramount insists "he's really
funny in this movie."
