Keeping up with Kim Kardashian
may be a tall order in the not-so-distant future. After almost five
years of having her every move documented on TV -- via her family's E!
reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and its subsequent spinoffs, including Kourtney & Kim Take Miami -- the 32-year-old star is ready to call it quits and live her life offscreen. In fact, the ninth season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians will be her last, she tells DuJour magazine.
Though she calls the show "truly, the best family movie ever," the soon-to-be first-time mom wants her new family -- her baby-to-be and boyfriend Kanye West, 35 -- to enjoy a quieter existence. "My boyfriend has taught me a lot about privacy," she tells the magazine. "I'm ready to be a little less open about some things, like my relationships. I'm realizing everyone doesn't need to know everything."
"When you live your life so publicly, like on a reality show, people assume that they know every side of you already," she adds. "But they always want more."
One painful example from her past is her split from basketball player Kris Humphries, whom she wed in August 2011. (The couple separated after just 72 days of marriage but have yet to finalize their divorce.)
"Going through a divorce for anybody is devastating and heartbreaking, and then to have to do it and feel like you have to explain what is happening is such an awkward thing," Kardashian tells DuJour. "You have to explain your choice to millions of people, and then they're disappointed. I'm disappointed. Why are they disappointed?"
With that in mind, the pregnant starlet is looking to back away from her reality TV career. "I think there's always an evolution of, you know, what you want to do in life. It's all about finding things that really excite you and motivate you and spark you all over again," she explains. "I'm realizing that no matter what, if you go into something with all these expectations and plans, once you're actually living it, it could be completely different."
