Meet Itene Oghenekaro Lydia; a Biologist/Microbiologist by the book, but an art person by the acts. She is the CEO, Kadia Make-overs/Make-up. Lydia is from the western part of Africa, Nigeria.
Itene Oghenekaro Lydia also bears her company name "Kadia".
Kadia started her career as a make-up artist after obtaining a Diploma in Make-up and Skin Care. Her expertise in make-up was attained after several years of working with beauty veterans like "Tara Fela Durotoye", "Lola Maja", "Gabazzinni" and "Freemantle" (She is well equipped and has a lot to offer in the World of Beauty). She later ran a make-up studio/academy (Kadia Make-up School) for some time after which she joined Nollywood in May 2011 as a make-up artist and has since then worked on several movie projects which include: "Shattered Mirrow", "The Riches","Royal Game", "City of Sin", "Ladies Affair", "My Daughter my Jewel", "Sins of a Virgin", "Once upon a Virgin", "Tentacles", "Broadway", "Guilty as Charged", "Inbetween the Lines".
Oghenekaro was nominated for "Make-up Artist of the Year" in the "City People Entertainment Awards 2011". That same year, her company was mentioned among 100 most influential organizations in Nollywood (This recognition was in USA).
She recently got into acting through one of the biggest Nollywood directors, Lancelot Imaseun Oduwa. She was onset as a make-up artist for the making of "Shattered Mirror" when she was given an offset acting trial in which she performed extraordinarily well and was given a sub-lead role. It was a challenging one as she was the head of make-up artist onset and also acting at the same time. This was a huge opportunity for her as she was starred with Ngozi Ezeonu, Nkem Owoh (Osuofia) and Majid Michel. Some of the Artists she has worked with in Nollywood are -Ngozi Ezeonu, Patience Ozokwor, Mercy Johnson, Ini Edo, Belinda Effah, Juliet Ibrahim, Funke Akindele, Chika Ike, Chinyere Wilfred, Majid Michel, Nkem Owoh, Olu Jacobs etc. Apart from working in movie projects in Nigeria, she has worked in Ghana and South Africa.
Apart from nollywood her company does personal Beauty training, makeup for music videos, makeup for Brides, commercials, photo shoot etc.
Her role model in Africa Cinema is Ngozi Ezeonu.
Recent project done: She has also ventured into music industry; she was the make-up artist for a music video by Adokiye- Back up and was given credit at the end of the video.
New projects on the Pipeline: She has recently finished a cinema movie project, "A Lancelot Wealth Production" directed by Lancelot Imaseun and starring a Hollywood star Rajaaq Adoti , a British Nollywood actress Uru Eke, Francis Duru and Seun Akindele. She played a makeup artist in the movie and was also the head of makeup artists for the movie project titled "Inbetween the Lines" which will be out in cinemas soon.
Charity: She was recently involved in Charity work alongside Tonto Dikeh, Adokiye and Ik Ogbonna where they shared school materials and awarded a one year scholarship to three intelligent children in a charity event, "Ije Africa". Also free tests for Diabetes and Blood Pressure were done in the course of the event.
Lydia’s Advice for young talented Actress in Africa is that “They should get their education first, work hard and then be patient and trust God to do all things for them.”
