Oghenekaro at Emina Castle, Ghana |
Pretty and fast rising Nollywood
actress, Oghenekaro Itene recently returned from Ghana’s Ghollywood, where she
dazzled in two big budget movies that would soon hit shelves internationally.
In a hearty chat with SHOWBIZPLUSng,
the Delta State-born actress, who is also an international make-up artist,
disclosed that her recent trip to Ghana for movie productions was fun filled
and memorable.
“I just came back from Ghana, where I shot
several movies back to back. My locations experience in Ghana has really opened
my eyes and enriched me more as a budding thespian. Some of the movies I shot
had working titles like: Our Community School, What Life Took From Me among
others.
My visit to Elmina Castle, the
defunct home of slave trade in Ghana was so touching and emotional. It made me
appreciate life and human beings more, especially loved ones. In fact, I cried
when the tour guide was telling us the inhuman stories of slave trade in Ghana
and how captured women were dehumanized, raped and killed. I will be going back
soon to complete the other productions waiting for me in Ghana.”
Meanwhile, Oghenekaro, who shuttles
between Nigeria and South Africa, has revealed that she has been chosen as the
anchor of a new TV programme, ‘African Undiscovered’ that would be aired on
cable stations across Africa.
“African Undiscovered is a documentary
reality traveling magazine programme that is aimed at digging deep into African
cultures and histories. And I’m delighted to be chosen as its anchor for West
Africa.”
Some of Oghenekaro’s popular
Nollywood movies since her arrival, a couple of years ago include: Shattered
Mirror, The Riches In-between the Lines and Lincoln’s Clan, a collaborative
soap involving Nigeria and South Africa. See photos of this beauty below
