A Burger King advert featuring soul singer, Mary J Blige singing about chicken has been removed from the airwaves.
The commercial had faced criticism from the African-American community
for being stereotypical - a black woman singing the praises of a fried
chicken wrap, reports Sky News.
But the fast-food chain is blaming music licensing issues for the decision to take the ad off air.
The black women-oriented website Madame Noire likened it to "buffoonery."
Burger King said it hopes to have the Blige "ads back on the air soon",
though a spokeswoman would not comment on whether they would be the
same.
It was also noted by the company that other celebrities, including
Salma Hayek, David Beckham and Jay Leno are advertising the snack wraps
too.
A representative for Blige did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
