Nollywood is experiencing a new phase – Bobby Michaels

Nollywood actor and model, Bobby Michaels, has applauded what he describes as the wind of change currently blowing in the Nigerian movie industry.
According to Michael who is the lead act in Amaka Igwe’s new soap opera, Now We are Married, the days of self-destruction are over, as Nollywood currently experiences professionalism.
“The industry is certainly changing and evolving. Big things are happening and the days when the place was run like a fiefdom is over. There was a time when sound and picture were really bad but things are being worked on now. Nollywood is going places, getting the attention of the international community. Several acts and talents are on display.  The days of one actor doing over 100 roles as the same character is over. The game has changed.”
On his relationship status, he says, “I was in a union that produced beautiful children but that union doesn’t hold any more so I am now a very single, single-dad!”
For the actor who currently sits atop a management outfit, Shaka Zulu Entertainment, and a production company, Pearl & Paris Initiative, there is no better time to tap into the vast opportunities that the ‘New Nollywood’ has to offer, other than now.
“We have a project called ‘The Yard’ which we should shoot before the end of the year. I have several other projects in line. Nollywood is the future and the future is today. I am on that boat and I am going to roll with it. I know it is not going to be easy but God being on our side, we will get to the other side. I am currently acting in a big budget film called Dream Walker by Neville Ossai. There are other projects in the pipeline but I’ll reveal that in due course.”
